Welcome to the Center for Writing & Oral Communication
For Fall 2024, the Center for Writing and Oral Communication will offer in-person (5100b McKeldin) and virtual consultations; consult our scheduling program for details about times and availability. Drop-in hours will be virtual on Wednesdays and Fridays from 12 - 2 pm. Friday Write-Ins will be held virtually from 9 - 11 am each Friday. See the calendar below for Zoom links.
At the Center, we enact the Graduate School mission, “Advancing graduate education. Enhancing the graduate student experience,” by providing opportunities for conversations about writing and oral communication across the graduate community. We offer support for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars at every stage of their development as academic and professional communicators who can, in turn, fulfill the university’s mission of sharing research, educational, cultural, and technological strengths with the broader community. You can read more about our learning outcomes here.
We offer the following services:
- Writing and oral communication consultations (see our consultation policies, find the right consultant for you, pick a type of consultation, and schedule through our online system)
- A variety of workshop and weekly write-ins
- Writing Groups
- English editing for international graduate students
