What Can I Do with my PhD? (Fall 2024)
Do you feel uncertain about your professional future? Whether you know what career path you want to pursue, or you’re unsure and want to explore your options, Step 1 of your job search process begins in the Discovery Stage. In this stage, you’ll clarify what motivates you as an academic so you can explore career options that align with your personal values and goals.
Format & Schedule
Join this virtual course developed by Beyond the Professoriate, and a learning community. Similar to a flipped classroom, you will watch video lessons and complete workbook activities before each live session. During scheduled meeting sessions, you will address questions and discuss activities with peers and facilitators to build a toolkit for an effective career exploration.
Best suited for doctoral students and Postdocs who prefer a virtual learning environment. For best learning outcomes, please plan to attend all sessions if possible:
- Oct. 29 (Tuesday), 12-1 pm: Kick-off meeting
- Nov. 7 (Thursday), 12-1 pm: Group discussion 1
- Nov. 14 (Thursday), 12-1 pm: Group discussion 2
- Nov. 19 (Tuesday), 12-1 pm: Group discussion 3 and course wrap-up
