I was one of the few interns in my department, which allowed me to really integrate myself into the company.
How did you find the internship/co-op? What was the interview process like? I went to a leadership summit for female engineering students where they had interviews for GE Aviation. I was interviewed there and got the position.
Would you recommend this internship to other students? Yes, I would; there were many aspects I liked about my internship. I worked in a manufacturing shop with a lot of new technology, such as a leap engine compressor, which was exciting. I was one of the few interns in my department, which allowed me to really integrate myself into the company. I was able to have a lot of freedom and that was new to me in a workplace.
How did you find housing in New Hampshire? The company gave us a stipend to pay for most of our housing. The majority of the interns, including myself, rented through AirBnB because there weren’t many other options.
Would you change anything about your internship experience? I honestly can’t think of anything I would change. I was given a lot of peer support during my internship, which helped me when I had issues or questions. I had freedom to work with new (to me) technology. I learned many valuable things as an intern and the freedom I had was a nice change compared to school life.
