The Academic Program
Join us for an exciting virtual summer experience at the A. James Clark School of Engineering! During the week, you will have an opportunity to explore the interdisciplinary principles of engineering while learning more about the eight engineering departments within the Clark School! You will participate in a variety of activities including lectures, discussions, interactive instruction and an individual and team design project. Within the network of support provided by the instructors, program advisors, and peers, you will have the opportunity to build self-confidence in applying your math, science and engineering skills.

A sample schedule of the program day follows below. Please note that this schedule is only a general outline of how each day is organized; further details of the program are to be determined closer to the start of the program.

Eligibility
Students entering the 11th or 12th grade in Fall 2022 are eligible to participate in the program.
Cost
The entire program costs $250 per student. Scholarships are available for students with demonstrated financial need. Please email summerengr@umd.edu, for more information.
Materials/Technical Requirements
Students may be required to purchase low-cost materials for participation. More information regarding these materials will be provided at a later date. Additionally, program participation will require:
- Laptop Computer/Desktop Computer/Tablet
- Broadband (high-speed) Internet connection with a consistent minimum speed of 1.5 Mbps.
- A Webcam and/or Microphone for use during live sessions on Zoom.
- Access to a web browser on the device.

How to Apply
1. Please complete the online application in its entirety, including the upload of your personal statement.
2. Submit an unofficial or official transcript. You can either upload it to the online application or email it to summerengr@umd.edu.
3. Upon completion of the application and submission of all application materials, students will be accepted on a rolling basis until all spots are filled. To maintain the interactive nature of the program, we will accept up to 25 students per session.
4. Once accepted, students must submit the full $250 payment. Your spot in the program is not secured until you have submitted payment. If you wish to be considered for a scholarship based on financial need, then please email Aishah Briscoe at summerengr@umd.edu.
Application Deadline
Registration for the program will close on July 1, 2022; however, if there are spaces available, we will accept applications beyond this date. Please contact summerengr@umd.edu prior to applying to check availability.
