Clark School Student Wins Hollings Scholarship
Mechanical engineering undergrad Jennifer Thompson, a student in the Gemstone program, has won the prestigious Ernest F. Hollings Scholarship, which promotes increased undergraduate training in oceanic and atmospheric science and education.
Thompson was one of four UM students among this year's awardees.
This prestigious scholarship is awarded to 100 students nationwide. UM is one of the universities with the largest number of awardees.
Awardees receive $8000 during their junior and senior years and are given a summer internship at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
The scholarship is awarded to students studying biological, life, and agricultural sciences; physical sciences; mathematics; engineering; computer and information sciences; social and behavioral science; and teacher education.
