A. James Clark Elected to the National Academy of Engineering
On February 11, A. James Clark, a 1950 graduate of the engineering school that now bears his name, was elected to the National Academy of Engineering — among the highest professional distinctions accorded an engineer.
Mr. Clark is chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Clark Enterprises Inc., of Bethesda, Maryland. Earlier this month, he established a $30 million scholarship endowment for the Clark School, the single largest gift in the school's history.
Mr. Clark is one of 74 members elected to the Academy this year. Membership honors those who have made outstanding contributions to the field in research, practice, education and literature, as well as those who pioneer new technology.
