What motivated you to become a ClarkLEADER?
I participated in my ClarkLEAD orientation my first year and believed that the themes and content covered were important to Engineering and wanted to contribute and help foster those messages among the incoming class of Engineers. Last year I was a ClarkLEADER, and I decided to return this year to once again help lead discussions on important topics.
What are some organizations or extracurricular activities you think new students should know about?
Students with prior experience in machining, manufacturing, 3D printing, and especially Woodworking should look into getting involved with Terrapin Works, the organization that runs machine shops and makers spaces on campus and employs students to maintain the spaces as well as educate students in safety and machine use.
What is one piece of advice you would like to share with new Maryland Engineering students?
Make sure to make friends both outside and inside your major, and get to know people of all different backgrounds and fields of study because UMD is such a big school with a lot to offer.
