Cyberjutsu Girls Academy to be held at UMD

On February 8, 2014 the Univeristy of Maryland College Park campus will be hosting The Cyberjutsu Girls Academy, a series of workshops for girls ages 12-15 designed to inspire young women to explore the world of technology and provide the encouragement and skills to achieve success in future careers.

Topics covered in this program include computer and operating system fundamentals, information security and forensics, basic web deisgn, introduction to programming (Python), mobile application development (Android), and electronics, robotics, and micorcontrollers (Arduino).

This program is offered by the Women’s Society of Cyberjutsu (WSC), and sponsored by the Maryland Cybersecurity Center (MC2) and the Maryland Center for Women in Computing.

The Women’s Society of Cyberjutsu (WSC) is a Northern Virginia-based non-profit (pending) organization passionate about helping and empowering women to succeed in the Cybersecurity field. WSC is a community of information security professionals, IT professionals, programmers, computer scientists/engineers as well as women wanting to explore and join the field. They collectively promote activities to advance women in information security.
