MISSION STATEMENT

The University of Maryland Department of Fire Protection Engineering (FPE) is committed to developing, supporting and growing a community of diverse individuals to promote equal opportunity and access to resources; thus, ensuring a safe and equitable space to empower students, faculty and staff. 

In support of this goal, the department created a diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) committee, which aims to develop, implement and sustain actions and policies that bolster inclusivity and a collaborative environment, further leading to innovative ideas that maximize our community's overall potential.
