As the umbrella organization for six major initaitives, CATT provides multi-jurisdictional coordination networks, advanced training, and cutting-edge visualization tools. One intiative alone, CATT Lab, operates three independent data centers with over 12 full racks of database and application servers with hundreds of terabytes of storage capacity.
Research
CEE faculty, researchers, and students leverage state-of-the-art research equipment, technology, and systems to develop new methods, create innovative tools, and find practical solutions to the most pressing societal concerns.
Center for Advanced Transportation Technology
Environmental Engineering Laboratories
The Environmental Engineering Laboratories are equipped for state-of-the-art analyses of environmental samples related to the fate and processes of organic pollutants, inorganic pollutants, and environmental microbiology and are supported by a labratory manager. Several instruments are available to UMD users from other departments.
Structural Engineering Laboratory
The Structural Engineering Laboratory is a fully-equipped, state-of-the-art space for structures testing and developing advanced sensor and innovative damping technology on relatively large-scale civil and aerospace structures.
Education
CEE fosters quality learning with facilities that enable students to better engage with civil and environmental engineering practices and principles. Faculty and instructors also leverage numerous Clark School and University of Maryland education facilities, including the Edward St. John Teaching and Learning Center.
