Classroom Response System designed for instructional and assessment delivery that provides opportunities for engagement and student feedback. Anywhere polling allows for spontaneous polling during class.
Before class
Set up
- Log into the classroom computer and select the PointSolutions (formerly TurningPoint) App icon or launch it from the start menu.
- Log in with your UMD credentials to your PointSolutions dashboard.
- If you are using Clickers, verify the receiver and classroom displays have the correct channel.
- Enable mobile responses to use mobile polling – and ensure that your students have the session ID.
- Select your ELMS-Canvas course from the list (individual courses must have been enabled to appear on this list).
- View further information on Linking ELMS-Canvas Courses to PointSolutions (Clickers).
Launch
- In the Anywhere Polling panel, click on your course under the Courses list, then click the Start now button to open the PointSolutions showbar interface.
- Start polling by selecting the green play (Open Polling) button on the showbar.
- Stop polling by selecting Close Polling on the showbar (the results will be displayed).
During class
Engage
- Poll with multiple-choice or true/false questions over any application or by verbally asking questions.
- Award points based on correct/incorrect answer submissions.
- Group students into teams for competitions.
- Ask questions on the fly with open-ended questions.
- Insert customized questions.
- Message students individually or use Open Chat with mobile polling for collaboration.
Measure
- Group students into demographic groups for answer comparisons.
- Track student responses and statistics for each question.
After class
- Click the x to close the Anywhere Polling showbar.
- When prompted, save your session response data.
- NOTE: Your session data will by default be saved on the classroom computer; choose another location to be sure you can access the session data after leaving the classroom!
- Close PointSolutions and log out of the classroom computer.
