Starting in February, 2021, you can only forward email in your UMD Gmail account (that is, your @umd.edu account) to specific, approved email addresses. Affiliates are not affected by these changes.
Faculty and staff that also work at a Federal agency
If a staff or faculty also works at a Federal government facility, they can forward their mail from the DIT-managed Google email address to their home agency. Examples of these agencies are:
- usda.gov
- bls.gov
- pnnl.gov
- nih.gov
- fda.gov
- hhs.gov
- nsa.gov
- noaa.gov
- nga.gov
- nasa.gov
- nrc.gov
- census.gov
- nist.gov
- nih.gov
- cdc.gov
- bea.gov
- state.gov
- faa.gov
- fdic.gov
- nps.gov
- dhs.gov
Faculty and staff that have a primary appointment at a USM institution
If a staff or faculty has a primary appointment at a USM institution, they can forward their mail from the DIT-managed Google email address to their home agency. Examples of these institutions are:
- Bowie State University (bowiestate.edu)
- Coppin State University (coppin.edu)
- Frostburg State University (frostburg.edu)
- Salisbury University (salisbury.edu)
- Towson University (towson.edu)
- University of Baltimore (ubalt.edu)
- University of Maryland, Baltimore (umaryland.edu)
- University of Maryland, Baltimore County (umbc.edu)
- University of Maryland Eastern Shore (umes.edu)
- University of Maryland Global Campus (umgc.edu)
- University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science (umces.edu)
Faculty and staff that also work secure facilities as part of the University
If a staff or faculty also work secure facilities as part of the University they can forward their mail from the DIT-managed Google email address to their home agency. These include the Police Department (umpd.umd.edu), Applied Research Lab for Intelligence and Security (arlis.umd.edu), or Laboratory for Physical Science (lps.umd.edu).
