Everyone has to start somewhere. This section is for you, if you have little some experience website building and website development. We recommend starting with an existing site before migrating into DIT Drupal Hosting environment. If you have any questions on how to get started, contact us at drupal@umd.edu.
What is CAS?
To learn more about CAS as a method for authentication, see Central Authentication Service (CAS) Login Screen.
Configuring CAS module
- Make sure that both CAS and Libraries modules are enabled.
NOTE: The CAS Server module is not needed. - Go to yoursite.umd.edu/admin/config/people/cas.
- Set CAS server version to 2.0.
- Set hostname to login.umd.edu.
- Set port to 443.
- Set uri to /cas.
- Under Login Form, select either Add link to login forms or Make CAS login default on login forms.
- Click Save.
Assigning user access with CAS module
- To add users to your site, go to the People tab at the top of the admin dashboard.
- Add a CAS user will prompt you to put in the UMD directory ID name of the person, Create New Account.
- Initially the new user will not be given administrator role, go to People tab again, choose edit on the user you want to change, and a new page will open.
- Click SAVE at the bottom of the page.
- We recommend creating a new role called Content Editor, which can limit permissions for the users you want to only edit content.
