How do I request an administrator role?
Before you request an administrator role:
- Complete mandatory UMD FERPA Training.
- Review the table below and discuss which role is right for you with a supervisor able to approve your request.
- Review the Service Level Agreement (SLA) for Enterprise Instructional Technology System Administrator Access.
Then, complete and submit the Request for EITS Administrator Access form.
How can my role as an administrator be ended?
You or the initial approver of your role can send an email to itsupport@umd.edu requesting the role be revoked. Be sure to include your name, the system to which you are an administrator, and the name of the role that is no longer needed. A confirmation email will be sent to the requestor once the role has been revoked.
What administrator roles can be requested using this service?
ELMS-Canvas

ELMS Management Tool (EMT)

Open Learning

Who approves the administrator role?
The head of academic/administrative unit such as: dean, assistant dean, department chair, assistant vice president, executive director or director may approve a request to grant access by responding to email they will receive when designated as the approver.
What steps need to be taken before submitting a request to be an administrator?
- Complete mandatory UMD FERPA Training.
- Select and discuss which role is right for you with a supervisor able to approve your request.
- Review the Service Level Agreement (SLA) for Enterprise Instructional Technology System Administrator Access.
Is there support for administrators?
The Division of Information Technology provides support and training to the administrators. ELMS-Canvas and EMT Administrators may have the option to join the Learning Technology Community of Practice that maintains a communication email list and meets monthly to discuss trends and new features and services at UMD. A request to join can be made by emailing itsupport@umd.edu.
