Overview
Discussions/Announcements Redesign is a feature option in ELMS-Canvas that displays an updated design with minor usability enhancements. Instructure (creators of Canvas) plans to turn on this feature on July 20, 2024 and remove the ability to use the legacy version.
On April 23, 2024, all instructional roles can turn on the feature at the course level. See the Turn On Feature section for directions on enabling this feature.
Discussions/Announcements Redesign
The Canvas Discussions Redesign offers
- Cleaner user interface for accessibility
- Flexible viewing options, including inline and split view
- Role labels (Author and Teacher labels)
- Reply reporting with notifications to instructors
- Quoting functionality
- Improved search with highlighting
- Full and partial anonymous graded Discussions
- Additional sorting and filtering options for users

NOTE: You must enable this feature option for each individual course if you choose to do so. This feature option is for both discussions and announcements.
