Galloway Featured Speaker at University of Iowa
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering's Prof. Gerry Galloway has been invited to lecture at a symposium on floods at the University of Iowa.
The topic of the symposium is "Living With Floods: From Science to Policy," focusing specifically on the floods of the summer of 2008. The event will last from March 10-12, with Galloway presenting his free public lecture, "When Will We Ever Learn? The Challenge Of Dealing With Frequent Flooding," on the evening of Tuesday, March 10.
Galloway is former brigadier general of the Army Corps of Engineers and has played a major role in assessing flood risk in the wake of Hurricane Katrina in the Gulf Coast region and other areas of the United States.
