Our electronic packaging Graduate Certificate in Engineering leverages the university's unique strength in reliability along with its expertise in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science, and business to empower students to further careers in areas such as avionics, automotive electronics, industrial motor drives, military electronics, and medical equipment. Course topics include basics of electronic system integration, heat transfer, thermal management, stress analysis, cost analysis, quality and reliability assessment, and prognostics and health management.

Admission Requirements

Requirements specific to the electronic packaging program include:

A bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
Completion of calculus I, II, and III and differential equations. Courses in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and structural mechanics (equivalent of ENES220) are recommended.

Degree Requirements

Graduate Certificate in Engineering: 12 Credits or 4 Courses

Students pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Engineering must complete the two electronic packaging core courses and two of the technical electives listed above.

Degree Planning Sheets

All students are expected to complete a preliminary course plan for their intended degree program (10-course for MEng or 4-course for GCEN) with the Senior Academic Advisor by the end of their first semester of study. The Degree Planning Sheet lists the core and technical elective requirements for each program, and all courses that are pre-approved for that program. Alternative technical electives must be approved by the same academic advisor.
