Papamanthou Ranks High among Top-Cited Security Papers
Research from Charalampos (Babis) Papamanthou, an assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering in the Maryland Cybersecurity Center (MC2), ranks high on a list of top-cited Security Papers that was recently released by Technische Universitat Braunschweig.
The citations for each paper have been determined by carefully crawling the DBLP service and Google Scholar.
Papamanthou has highly-cited papers published at two top-tier security conferences (CCS and SSP-Oakland). “Dynamic provable data possession,” co-authored by Papamanthou when he was in graduate school at Brown University, earned the #4 spot for papers in 2009. “Dynamic searchable symmetric encryption” earned the #10 spot for security papers written in 2012. In 2016, a paper by Papamanthou, Ahmed E. Kosba (a fifth-year doctoral student in computer science who works in MC2) and others, earned the #1 spot for most cited paper in 2016 for “Hawk: The Blockchain Model of Cryptography and Privacy-Preserving Smart Contracts.”
Papamanthou also has an appointment in the University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies (UMIACS).
